Vaccinations & Worming

Another regular favourite on the internet forums – another dog management topic where an owner must fall off the fence on one side or the other!
 

Our choice is to follow the topic and keep informed. The goal posts keep moving – it’s not a decision that’s set in stone, so we talk to our vet and follow his advice. Yes, there are risks – but how would we feel if we lost one of our dogs to a preventable disease?

According to our vet, there have been recent cases of Heart/Lung worm in the Cwmbran area – these potentially deadly parasites are not dealt with by over the counter worming products (eg Drontal only deals with Tape Worm), but the disease is preventable by following a worming programme using vet prescription products.

 

The services we provide requires a sensible approach – we, our dogs, homes and vehicles, come into contact with many other animals – and we have a responsibility to minimise the risks to our customers dogs placed in our care. Consequently, we can only accept dogs that are proved to be following a vaccination and worming program as advised by the owners vet.
